Entering into the Sixth Sun
I have been fascinated with the Mayan Culture since the early 1990’s. My journey began by studying the work of Carl Johan Calleman, John Major Jenkins, David Pinchbeck and Barbara Hand Clow. I met a wonderful journeyer to the land of the Maya, Aluna Joy Yaxkin. When I asked her what to expect, she told me to forget the books and “listen to the stones” of the sacred Mayan sites. She was right!
Even so, none of this prepared me as much as when I took my first group of seekers to the Yucatan Peninsula in 2005, working with my spiritual brother, Miguel Angel Vergara. Miguel Angel was the director of the sacred site of Chichen Itza more than four years, is a Mayan priest and well-versed in Mayan traditions and a very awakened, heart-centered being! Together, we visited many sites in southern Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras with our seekers, doing ceremony, offering lectures and understanding the oral traditions of the Mayans from a much deeper level of awareness.
To understand that the Mayans knew about the cycles and rhythms of time and of consciousness can be difficult. For instance, their calendrical system goes back 16.4 Billion years! The nine-step pyramids of Chichen Itza, Palenque and Tikal are references to what are called “underworlds” of creation; meaning when in time certain levels of consciousness would appear in this dimension!
At Chichen Itza, there is a “ball court” that appears in form of an alley that actually represented through its stellar alignment, when the galactic center would astronomically “rise” over the ballcourt on December 21, 2012! I have demonstrated this many times to groups with astronomy software.
December 21st, 2012, was the “end” of the Mayan Calendar. Many thought of it as an end that might be apocalyptic. Instead, the date was about entering into the sixth sun. The “sun” according to the Mayan and Aztec culture, is a reference to a cycle of time, not the physical sun itself. Most scholars put that cycle at 5115 years. Many stelae and the codexes of the Mayans indicate these cycles as planetary, solar system and galactic alignments.
Looking at the Aztec calendar (note that there is no “Mayan” calendar: the one you see in public is created from deciphering Mayan codexes), one can see five of these suns (four suns in squares, surrounding one in the center) with the one in the center as a being with tongue extended. In Aztec and Mayan teachings when you see a being with tongue out or finger extended, that means “listen up,” this is important! On the calendar, it means that on December 21st, 2012 would be the end of the fifth “sun” or the end of 5 5015-year cycles and the “Entering into the Sixth Sun.”
So instead of being cataclysmic, the end of the Mayan Calendar in 2012 signaled the entry of the sixth sun into what could be called “the golden era of inner transformation” of our global human society. There was no “end,” but the beginning of another sun, or era of time.
How could the Mayans know such precise astronimical dates and positions of the planets solar system and galactic center? Part of that change, punctuated by the much-advertised “End” of the Mayan Calendar on December 21, 2012, was to indicate that the Mayans knew our world would be evolving very quickly, entering into the sixth sun of higher levels of awareness. In many of my lectures, I also introduce the understanding of the Hindu Yugas, or cycles of consciousness, paralleling the Mayan teachings. More on that in a different blog!
Integral Health (mind-body-spirit) has been on the scene for over 30 years. In terms of the information of this blog, it is a natural externalization of this cosmological evolution of consciousness! That is why it is so imperative that we get into the groove of the totality of our beingness!
We, as beings on this planet, are undergoing a major astrological shift that was predicted by cultures as the Mayans, codified in the way their edifices were constructed (even down to cardinal points and astronomical alignments), their codices and stelaes that we are still studying for the fullness of what the Mayan culture truly represented .
It is in our best interest to seek after our self-empowerment by understanding our true nature. Your Integral Health practitioner embodies this inner seeking to assist you on your journey.
I continue to give lectures and presentations on the Mayan culture and offer journeys to the land of the Maya to further our inner awareness.
Blessings,
Dr. Richard Jelusich, Ph.D.
