The Cube and the Sphere
Pakal Votan was the physical and spiritual leader of the great Mayan city-state of Palenque (Southern Mexico, 603-683 CE). You may recognize his image on the sarcophagus lid popularized in books and TV, thought to be piloting a spaceship of some sort. In fact, the truth of the Maya is more profound than what we can imagine.
For my purposes here, after all my many journeys to the land of the Maya since 2005 (I have taken seekers on journeys to the land of the Mayans many times (and will do so again in the Fall of 2025, including Pakal’s tomb in Palenque), I’ve come to know they are very exceedingly spiritually evolved people.
What gives me awe is that the ancient people were so amazing in what they accomplished in their understanding of the cycles of time and consciousness. They demonstrated calendrical, seasonal and celestial mechanics that to this day confound scientists and astronomers.
For instance, the Mayan codexes showed Venus and the Earth coincide with their orbits every 584 days. Modern science puts it at 583.92 days! How could the Mayans possibly know that? And that is one example of many for this most evolved civilization. For a really cool read, see The Tutankhamun Prophecies by Maurice Cotterel, discussing images hidden in the sarcophagus lid of Pakal Votan. He overlaid two identical clear acetate images aligned to a reference point and several images of the bat god, jaguar god and many others appeared! How could an ancient culture, sculpting a seven-ton sarcophagus lid, know how to inlay these hidden images?
More interestingly, evolved peoples would hold such hidden messages in something durable like stone, until such time as future people (you and I) are sufficiently evolved with the capacity and the capability to comprehend the deep spiritual meaning of such work!
Pakal’s tomb was discovered by archeologist Alberto Ruz in 1952. When the sarcophagus lid was removed, his mummified body was adorned with over 400 pieces of jade, a semi-precious stone of great spiritual value and meaning to the Mayans.
In his right hand was a cube of jade. In his left, a sphere of jade. Like many of the Mayan codexes, archeological sites, stelaes and frescoes, there is a much deeper meaning than what appears to be on the surface that Pakal was buried with great wealth.
Many have interpreted the deeper meaning of why the spiritual leader of a very evolved people would be holding a cube and a sphere. To me, it means that when we are born we have “edges,” (the cube) which represents our personality and different elements of our life and our beliefs.
Over time we must the cube (through what is called “the feminine principle – using the power of the will to allow instead of push). That is, we open our hearts to higher levels of compassion, understanding and spiritual awareness, to polish and remove the rough edges of our being. By doing so we reveal the smooth perfect sphere of our being, with no edges. Just one surface.
And what is the hidden teaching? That the sphere has always existed within the cube (read the Blog “It’s not Whether: it’s That!”. Can you imagine a culture that would leave such a message as the cube and the sphere for future people to comprehend a deeper meaning?
I have lectured on the Mayans since 1992, including the ramp-up and meaning of the December 21, 2021 “end” of the Mayan calendar. We are living in the Golden Era of Inner Transformation, predicted by the Mayans. How are you polishing your cube?
We’re living in an era where we cannot afford to do otherwise. The waveform of the alignment of our solar system in 2012 will continue for another 250 years! It’s 12 years past 2012, and the energetics are not over; it is the reason there is so much cacophony of chaos in our world today. If we don’t get it together, there is no need for any human beings to be on this planet, for it is a preferred destination for souls.
So, polish your cube. Work on your own inner development. Be accountable and responsible. Be harmless and compassionate.
Blessings,
Dr. Richard Jelusich, Ph.D.
